Little Bits, Part 1

To get me started, this is just a compilation of my favorite Facebook status updates about my kids that I have made over the past few years.  We'll start with the oldest and I'll put up a few new ones every now and then.

Daddy and the Boys Day!  Gonna go to the fruit market and Gonna get a pool and gonna go swimming and gonna go to Home Depot and gonna go get ice cream and gonna go on a mule ride and gonna go get a dog and gonna go play soccer and gonna hunt for dinosaurs (Tue, 23 Jun 2009 16:55:04 GMT)

I have learned more about dinosaurs in the last 4 weeks than I had in the previous 34 years.  The 4 weeks before that I learned more about Power Rangers than I ever wanted to know.  What will the next 4 weeks bring?  Life is always exciting with a 5 year old. (Sun, 05 Jul 2009 17:06:51 GMT)

Watched "Star Wars, Episode 4" with Ryan and Jen the lother night.  When Ryan saw Chewbacca, he kept asking "That is a very angry bear.  Why is that bear angry." (Tue, 14 Jul 2009 12:56:48 GMT)

Ryan washed his shoes off in the hallway bathroom today ("I just wanted them to be clean!"), so now on top of installing a new toilet in our master bathroom, I get to replumb the sink in the hall bath.  And before anyone asks, yes we tried liquid plumbr. (Sat, 01 Aug 2009 12:44:04 GMT)

So proud of my little science geek.  "Dad!  Ornithocheirus wasn't a dinosaur.  It was a pterosaur - there were no flying dinosaurs until the birds evolved." (Wed, 05 Aug 2009 13:50:22 GMT)

I felt a bit like I was being interrogated by Ryan this morning.  Starting at about 7:15 I endured almost 2 straight hours of questions about Star Wars, most involving topics like who is the best Jedi, who could defeat Darth Vader if Luke didn't, and who is the meanest bad guy if we exclude Darth Vader from the list. (Sun, 16 Aug 2009 02:00:19 GMT)

Last night in the car to the library -  Ryan: "Dad, I love you and I love mommy, but you guys aren't doing things right for me."  Me, stifling a laugh:  "Really?  What are we not doing?"  Ryan:  "Well, for one thing, you don't give me everything that I want." (Thu, 20 Aug 2009 11:04:37 GMT)

"Watched" Return of the Jedi last night with Ryan and Jen.  He asked so many questions ("Is that a good guy?", "Why is Yoda dead?", "Who wins the fight?", "Why are those tiny bears (Ewoks) angry?", "Would an Allosaurus be able to defeat the Emperor?", "Dad, could you defeat an Allosaurus?", "If you rode an Allosaurus, could you defeat the Emperor?", etc) that I don't think anyone heard any dialogue. (Sat, 22 Aug 2009 12:41:18 GMT)

Ryan's first day of Kindergarten went off without a hitch.  My little boy got onto the bus without a complaint, helped a friend who was having a rough time, and seemed to toally enjoy the entires school thing.  He is now one step closer to getting married to a wonderful woman and making lots of grandbabies.  Or to a wonderful man and adopting lots of grandbabies.  Whatever.  As long as there are grandbabies. (Wed, 26 Aug 2009 23:15:48 GMT)

Everything tastes better with a Bunny Fork.  At least that is how my 2 year old sees it. (Sat, 29 Aug 2009 02:12:00 GMT)

Morning at the Doyle household:  Ryan and Ethan are fighting about cars, books, the lights and whether they should be on or off, and generally attempting to injure themselves in creative ways. (Sun, 06 Sep 2009 13:49:27 GMT)

Off to the lake with Ryan to see how long it takes for a 5 year old to jump out of a boat, despite the fact that he has been told roughly 432 times not to jump out of the boat.  My hypothesis:  7 minutes. (Mon, 07 Sep 2009 16:53:23 GMT

Spent the last 10 minutes blowing up balloons for some sort of imaginary party my boys are having.  I wonder if this imaginary party involves chucking balloons at the dog.  Time will tell... (Sun, 13 Sep 2009 16:10:58 GMT)

Both boys in the bath at the same time is not a simple chore, especially if one of them is constantly blowing bubbles at the other while simultaneously attempting to entice the dog to jump in with them. (Wed, 23 Sep 2009 00:42:39 GMT)

My boy is a soccer stud.  I was so proud of him last night!  And I loved that he ran to give me a high five after he scored his 2 goals. (Fri, 25 Sep 2009 11:01:12 GMT)

"The Doyle Boys Magnificent Adventure to the Parade" went off without too many problems.  Now we move on to "Operation:  Fill the Living Room with Paper Airplanes!" (Sat, 26 Sep 2009 16:17:05 GMT)

Installed a new door this evening complete with little doggy door for our little doggie.  Apparently Ethan and Ryan didn't read the words "Doggie Door" on the package because it is their new favorite thing in the entire house.  In - out - in - out... (Wed, 30 Sep 2009 01:31:19 GMT

Ethan tonight:  "Juice Please!"  Me:  "You already had juice.  Do you want water or something else?"  Ethan:  "Dinosaurs."  Me:  "I don't think we have any dinosaurs, but I can check.  In case the dinosaur thing falls through, is there anything else you might want?"  Ethan:  "Water."  Me:  "Ok.  Water it is."
