Little Bits, Part 2

Continuing the Facebook Status parade, here is part 2:

Results from last night soccer game:  We lost by a lot (probably 8-3, I lost count), Ryan scored 2, our team scored 2 own goals, and probably everyone scored a case of the flu or bubonic plague.  Why do parents bring sick children to play outside in the cold and rain? (Fri, 09 Oct 2009 10:53:14 GMT)

I have been challenged, and I accept.  I need to go have a lightsaber fight with my son now. (Mon, 12 Oct 2009 01:31:30 GMT)

Ryan and Ethan now have a new favorite song:  "The Californian", by Bob Schneider.  This rules because it is also my current favorite song so we can crank it up and have a dance party.  I'm gonna go wake them up to see if they want to dance... (Wed, 14 Oct 2009 11:10:57 GMT)

Hangin' with the boys this morning.  We just got done building an obstacle course and are now basically hitting each other with whatever we can find in the basement that is not potentially deadly.  I think we need more pillows. (Sun, 25 Oct 2009 16:55:21 GMT)

Skipped raking the leaves yesterday in favor of simply making a big pile and playing in them.  Playing and jumping quickly turned into "throw leaves at daddy" which forced me to defend myself with tickling, all of which ended with three of us fairly wet and covered in leaves. It has already been a productive morning.  Had breakfast, two lightsaber duels with Ryan (both of which I lost), and helped Ethan learn colors with Fruit Loops ("Daddy!  This is a green one", he says, holding aloft an actual green loop). (Sat, 07 Nov 2009 14:13:33 GMT)

Ryan is getting good enough and cheats enough that playing soccer downstairs with him is actually a bit of a challenge.  He strikes the ball very well, is learning to use his body to shield the ball, and he is not afraid to throw the occasional elbow to the testicles.  Plus, his goal is literally 15 feet wide where mine is only 3 and the dog is always on his side, but I am really enjoying the games! I bet our house decorating day rocked more ass than any of yours.  When given a choice of music, my boys first went with the Charlie Brown Christmas Album, but that was quickly replaced with the "Hair Metal's Greatest Hits" playlist on my iPod.  Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Winger and Europe all made for a loud, head bangin good time. (Sun, 06 Dec 2009 21:16:08 GMT)

About 4 minutes ago, while I was installing some shelves downstairs, Ryan says, while playing Wii tennis:  "Sweet.  Two new chumps to play against.  I ain't had a chance to smoke these fools yet."  Thanks Uncle David! (Mon, 04 Jan 2010 01:07:36 GMT)

Ethan slept in the big boy bed last night!  He woke up this morning a little cranky and confused about where he was, but after a few minutes he fell back asleep.  I figure that this is good practice for college. (Fri, 08 Jan 2010 11:58:10 GMT)

Ryan seems to think that the driving game featuring Nintendo characters is called "Matio Cock Whee!", despite the fact that I keep correcting him.  That should be fun at kindergarten tomorrow. (Wed, 20 Jan 2010 01:22:21 GMT)

While reading stories tonight, Ethan informed me that he could count and then proceeded to do just that.  Sort of.  "1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8. 9. 10, 46, 6, Moo, Red Ranger!" (Fri, 29 Jan 2010 03:05:32 GMT)

While sitting around playing with Legos, Ethan and I had the following conversation.  Me:  "What ya doing, Ethan?"  Him:  "Building a cockandbush."  Me:  "You are building a what?"  Him:  "A cockandbush".  Me:  "What is a cockandbush?"  Him:  "I don't know."  Me: "Good.  You are only two.  Let's keep it that way." (Fri, 12 Feb 2010 00:10:43 GMT)

Whoops.  Just spent about 3 hours playing Lego Star Wars with Ryan on the Wii while Jen and Ethan napped.  Apparently we need a clock down there so we don't go over our 30 minute time limit.  I guess that this is a ringing endorsement for how much fun that particular game is, though! (Sun, 21 Feb 2010 01:05:50 GMT)

While getting the boys ready for bed tonight I was treated to an impromptu rendition of "All the Single Ladies" by Beyonce. While he was putting on his shirt, Ethan started off with what sounded like "allasingladies" followed by an "oh-oh-oh", to which Ryan added "All the Single Ladies, Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh, oh." Both of them then danced and shook their little butts while continuing to sing.  Best bedtime ever. (Sat, 06 Mar 2010 01:44:44 GMT)

Watched "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" last night with the boys.  It is hilarious and rules for several reasons, not the least of which is that Mr.T is one of the voice actors. Thanks to this flick, I am now the ultimate proud father because both Ethan and Ryan can do a wicked Mr. T impression. (Sat, 13 Mar 2010 02:08:26 GMT)

If I am not mistaken, between the two of them, Ethan and Ryan have come out of their room approximately 7,342 times in the last 40 minutes.  First it was for water, then because of shadows, and now Ethan has actually requested a diaper change.  Next they'll both come out asking for broccoli spears and math problems.
